how I photographed this magazine cover for Organic Gardener mag: Behind the Scenes

Last month I was commissioned by Organic Gardener Magazine to photograph their August 2021 cover showcasing herbs and freshly picked veggies.

The brief was to capture an abundance of herbs near and old window on a rustic table with views to greenery outside.

A pretty simple lighting setup, single window (key light) and silver reflector filling in the shadow side. Our windows are super low, so I couldn't use a normal table and resorted to stacking up pieces of old wood on containers with books keeping it stable (so profesh, haa!).

The hero of this cover is Thea's (Fishbone Farm) beautiful produce. When I see and taste amazing produce like this I really wonder why they aren't more famous farmers out there?! There are plenty of famous chefs, but for some reason growing isn't as revered and it should be. Growing food is hard work and then add into the mix being small-scale, ethical and chemical free and that's one talented farmer. Bring on more #celebrityfarmers
