summer holiday photos - 2022/23

After a hectic year, the latest holidays have felt oh-so-sweet. My partner and I had one of our most significant work years in a long while + we’ve been building a house and trying to set up infrastructure on our farm so we have water, food, and trees to shade and protect us. I usually do some work over the holidays, but I completely switched off this year because I was feeling so burnt out. A few weeks in, I pulled out my big camera to document some family stuff, which felt luxurious.

I put on on my favourite lens that I don't often use (because I shoot so much video) and had a play with a small aperture/shallow depth-of-field - which means there is only a small amount in focus and gives a very dreamy soft feeling. I don't get to play with this often during work because I really can't gamble with my main subject being out of focus which means I shoot on a high aperture (f5.6-ish) to give me more wiggle room with my style of fast shooting.

I didn't create anything spectacular, I just documented my life like I used to. No agenda, just because it felt good.
