Be Visible, Stay True: Video Strategies for Sensitive women

As a creative woman, you might feel torn between creating video content and staying true to yourself. I've been in business for over 20 years, and for the last 10, I've become more mindful about crafting a business that aligns my personal and business values. It's now the reason people book me. The most common phrases I hear are "I love your real authentic images," "your garden looks so beautiful," "how is your new house going" - I blend more of my story into the mix, and because of this, I work with more clients I love.

I believe you can showcase your products and services authentically without sacrificing your values or getting lost in the social media whirlwind. Let's explore how to nurture your online business with a minimalist mindset while considering your mental health.

The Power of Video in Your Marketing Strategy

Before we dive into specific strategies, it's crucial to understand why video content is so important in today's digital landscape. Video has become an essential tool for boosting engagement across social media platforms and improving website search rankings.

Enhanced Engagement on Social Media

Video content typically garners more engagement than text or image posts on social media. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn prioritise video content in their algorithms, making it more likely for your audience to see and interact with your posts. This increased visibility can lead to higher engagement rates, including likes, comments, and shares, which are all vital metrics for social media success. While most of us want to resist the big push for video, there's lots of data to back up its importance. It's about finding a way to create video content that feels aligned with our values and energy as sensitive women.

Improved Website Search Rankings

Incorporating video into your website can significantly impact your search engine optimization (SEO) efforts. Search engines like Google tend to favor websites with video content, as it indicates rich, diverse content that users find valuable. Videos can increase the time visitors spend on your site, a factor that search engines consider when ranking pages. Additionally, having a YouTube channel linked to your website can create valuable backlinks, further boosting your SEO. This is something I'm working on personally at the moment with my new YouTube channel, ensuring I embed as many videos as I can into my blogs to increase my online visibility.

Better Connection with Your Audience

Video allows you to connect with your viewers on a more personal level. It gives your audience a chance to see your facial expressions, hear your voice, and get a sense of your personality. This personal touch can help build trust and rapport, especially important for sensitive women who value authentic connections.

Create Once, Share Everywhere: Efficient Content Marketing Strategy

Building a more visible business online isn't all about social media. Instead, focus on creating a central tier for your video content and repurpose it strategically. Here's what is working for me:

YouTube channel - I started a video channel where I interview women in business I'm interested in and think both myself and my audience could learn from. This approach has resonated more with my viewers than simply sharing client work. The video content I've created is pretty low-tech, captured either via a Zoom interview or using my smartphone camera to record myself talking to the camera.

From one YouTube video, I create:

  1. Short snippets of video content for social media platforms, including Instagram Reels

  2. Video content along with a transcript and intro for my blog

  3. Digital marketing content for my newsletter

This content marketing strategy allows me to reach a larger audience with one piece of video content, rather than only thinking about social media first - where often people only see your video content for 24 hours.

Following Your Excitement: The Key to Consistent Content Creation

When starting your video content journey, focus on topics that genuinely excite you. This enthusiasm will propel you to learn and create, even when facing challenges. As a multi-passionate individual, you have a unique advantage – you can explore various topics that align with your expertise and interests.

Remember, it's okay to feel nervous or unsure at first. Many successful video content creators started without any prior experience. Not everyone resonates with a confident extrovert - your right audience will connect with you, even if you're a bit nervous to begin with.

Communicating Your Value in a Crowded Market

In a world where similar products and services abound, it's crucial to communicate why potential clients should choose you. As someone living a mindful life, you have a unique perspective to offer. Consider sharing:

  • How your approach differs from others in your field

  • The values that drive your business

  • Real-life examples of how your products or services have positively impacted clients

Strategic Visuals: When and How to Invest in Professional Videography

When you invest in professional videography, it's crucial to maximize the value you get from the shoot. Here are some tips to make the most of your investment:

  1. Plan for multiple formats: Ensure you get both vertical and landscape versions of your video edits. This way, you'll have valuable content for various platforms like Instagram Reels (which prefer vertical videos) and your website (where landscape videos often work better).

  2. Prepare a shot list: Before the shoot, create a detailed list of the types of shots and scenes you want to capture. This might include talking head shots, B-roll of you working, and footage of your products or services in action.

  3. Consider multiple outfits: Bring several outfit changes to the shoot. This will give you variety in your content and allow you to create videos that appear to have been shot on different days.

  4. Capture both video and still photos: While the focus might be on video, don't forget to capture high-quality still photos as well. These can be used for your website, social media posts, and marketing materials.

  5. Plan for future content: Think about upcoming promotions, product launches, or seasonal content you might need. Try to capture footage that can be used for these future needs.

  6. Discuss editing options: Talk with your videographer about the types of edits you'll need. This might include longer form content for your website or YouTube channel, as well as shorter clips for social media and Instagram Reels.

Balancing Professional and Authentic Content

While professional content is valuable, it's important to maintain a balance with more casual, day-to-day content. Your audience appreciates seeing both polished and behind-the-scenes glimpses of your business. Use your professional content as cornerstone pieces in your marketing strategy, supplementing them with regular, authentic updates across your social media channels.

Cultivating Genuine Connections with Your Audience

As a highly sensitive individual, you have a natural ability to connect deeply with others. Use this strength to build authentic relationships with your audience. Share personal stories, behind-the-scenes glimpses of your work, and the inspiration behind your products or services.

Engage with your audience by responding to comments, asking for their input, and creating video content that addresses their needs and interests. This two-way communication will help you build a loyal community that resonates with your message and increases engagement.

Building a visible online presence doesn't have to mean compromising your values; there is a place and audience that likes quieter, more mindful content.

Be Visible, Stay True: Video Strategies for Sensitive Women

When I started my YouTube channel, I was genuinely nervous. I'd never recorded a live online interview before and knew nothing about the process, but my excitement to chat with people I admired propelled me forward. That's the key I want to share with you—find topics that light you up and align with your expertise. Your passion will drive you to learn, create, and connect with your viewers.

Building your online presence isn't about perfection or following a strict rulebook. It's about figuring out what feels good and manageable for your marketing strategy to attract your potential customers. Start small, be consistent, and stay true to yourself while engaging with your audience across various social media platforms.
